Pennsylvania Fall Foliage

Nancy and I made a last minute decision to take a day trip to view some of northern Pennsylvania's beautiful fall foliage colors before they would be gone for another year. The colors were near peak in many areas and the weather was near perfect with much warmer than normal temperatures for this time of the year.
Morning Glory: A distant hillside near Elysburg (Northumberland County) offers a nice backdrop to the green pasture and colorful deciduous trees in the foreground.
Lone Tree Gold: A lone Chestnut tree showcases its autumn plumage on a farm near the town of Turbotville, Pennsylvania.
River Bend View: The Loyalsock river winds through the Loyalsock State Forest south of Barbours in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
Dry Run Falls: Located in the Loyalsock State Forest this normally impressive multi-tier waterfall is barely a trickle due to moderate drought conditions.
Picnic Shelter: Nancy enjoyed having lunch in this well built picnic shelter found along Dry Run Road south of Hillsgrove, Pennsylvania.

Hillsgrove Covered Bridge: A somewhat hidden, but well maintained covered bridge crosses the Loyalsock creek south of Hillsgrove, Pennsylvania in Sullivan County.

Schrader Creek: Low water flow reveals the rocky creek bottom amid a burst of beautiful fall foliage colors in Bradford County Pennsylvania.

Schrader Creek Rapids- Bradford County: During times of high water this area is normally a raging area of rapids with little to no rocks visible.

Pleasant Drive: One of the countless dirt roads that wind through the northern woods that afford beautiful views of the autumn colors. This one is near Sunfish Pond in Bradford County.
