NGC 6914 Reflection Nebula

(embedded in large red emission nebula complex)

Cygnus

A dramatic study in contrasts, this colorful skyscape features stars, dust, and glowing gas. The blue complex of nebulae near the center of the image  lies some 6,000 light-years away, toward the high-flying northern constellation Cygnus and the plane of our Milky Way Galaxy.

NGC 6914 is the grouping of blue reflection nebula shown near the center of the above image which is surrounded by a very large complex of bright red emission nebula in central Cygnus, located about 7 degrees NNE of  the star Sadr.  North is to the right in this image.
