East Central Pennsylvania - Northern Berks County

March 17, 2015

The strongest geomagnetic storm of the current solar cycle occurred on March 17 & 18 and sparked displays that were visible in the northern half of the USA.  The greatest impact occurred during the early morning hours on the 17th and had begun to subside by the evening of that same day.  Although the glow from the aurora was faintly visible  during the mid-evening hours of the 17th, my Canon 5D MII was able to easily pick up the display at an ISO of 800.  The following images are the best of the lot and exposures ranged from 30 - 60 seconds.  All images were looking north towards the Blue Mountain Ridge about half way between Harrisburg & Allentown, Pennsylvania.
